Bowers & Wilkins has unveiled the new 600 Series S3, the latest iteration of its popular mid-range loudspeaker series. The new range features a number of significant upgrades, including a new titanium dome tweeter, enhanced Continuum cones, and upgraded crossovers.
The 600 Series S3 is available in four models: the 603 S3 floorstander, the 606 S3 standmount, the 607 S3 bookshelf speaker, and the HTM6 S3 centre channel. All four models are available in a choice of Oak, White, or Black finishes.
Bowers & Wilkins says that the 600 Series S3 delivers "a more open and less cabinet-affected sound" than its predecessor, thanks to a number of design innovations. These include the new titanium dome tweeter, which is housed in an elongated tube-loading system, and the Continuum cones, which now feature enhanced motor assemblies.
The 600 Series S3 also benefits from upgraded crossovers, which feature high-quality bypass capacitors that Bowers & Wilkins says elevate resolution and transparency to new heights.
In addition to the sonic upgrades, the 600 Series S3 also features a number of physical improvements. The cabinet construction has been improved, with the tweeter and main drive units now mounted closer together to enhance integration and stereo imaging. The rear of the speaker also features a new terminal tray and a 700 Series specification bass port, resulting in improved performance and a stiffer cabinet.
Overall, the Bowers & Wilkins 600 Series S3 looks like a significant upgrade over its predecessor. With its new titanium dome tweeter, enhanced Continuum cones, and upgraded crossovers, the 600 Series S3 promises to deliver an exceptional audio experience at a competitive price.
