The two wooden enclosures that host the front and the rear subwoofer are obtained by a 3D shaped plywood structure. 3D curvature offers the maximum of strength with a small thickness.
THE DESIGN OF A NEW CONCEPT
The inspiration for the concept the revolutionary Sf16 project comes from evergreen icons from the past; the “muscle cars” of the sixties and the seventies and the classics of interior design of the late fifties are the center of the imaginary merged with the Sonus faber recognizable touch, the Walnut wood finish.
An active, powerful hi-res compact “all in one“ device, a “plug and play“ solution,
a contemporary and wireless music experience, but before anything else,
a Sonus faber speaker with performances balanced between strength,
flexibility, precision and purity.
SONUS FABER PATENTS
Zero Vibration Technology™ each woofer has an opposing woofer mounted at 180 degrees in a push-push configuration for cancellation of internal vibration.
“Sound Field Shaper” rear-facing midrange and tweeters are designed to enhance soundstage depth, width and immersion. Stealth Reflex System™ Custom port and bass reflex designs are implemented to enhance low-frequency extension while reducing distortion.
In addition to the DTS Play-fi wireless connectivity which allows playback from digital media in several formats, the Sf16 is also equipped with 3 standard audio inputs:
– Digital S/pdif coaxial
– Digital Toslink optical
– AUX analog RCA
To optimize low frequency extension, we incorporated two custom designed ultra long throw drivers featuring a rigid but extremely light Aluminum/Magnesium alloy cone.
The Sf16 movement is done by two strong Aluminum / Carbon fiber arms activated by brushless motors digitally controlled.
The main characteristics of the Sf16 are the two satellites for tweeters and midranges. With their shape that remind human eyes, these structures are placed on two moving arms made in Aluminum and Carbon fiber, to ensure a light but strong structure.
